even our favorite characters age too

"It might be more popular now than when it was on the first time around," Jimmy Kimmel told Lauren Graham on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

And it's true. If you're newer to the fandom, or have been around from the beginning -- You know the crazy pandemonium that has caught on, even a few years after "A Year in the Life" premiered.

It's a cult classic. It didn't get the same ratings or the hype back in the day. They didn't get the same budget that the other CW shows were getting at the time. Hence, the reason that Amy Sherman- and Dan Palladino left before the last season, due to negotiations and contracts not meeting what they needed to move forward.

Fast forward to now, Warner Brothers hosts the annual Holidays Made Here centered around the recreation of Stars Hollow and bringing the magic of the Gilmore Girls town to life. We also have new merch items, which seems to include a new announcement each week, whether it's Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, the coffee collaboration with Scott Patterson and more.

Of course, at the same time, Kimmel also approached the topic of the residuals they get paid for from Netflix. Lauren cleared that up with "being paid in love." It's crazy the way it all works.

"Gilmore girls?" They'd ask, most likely confusing it with the Golden Girls. Or they just weren't that into it - didn't quite understand the genius of the pop culture references, the witty dialogue or fast-talking.

There was something else that made me think...She mentioned how now, as she's getting older, she doesn't want people to be like 'what happened to her?' when she's like 80 or something.

As I've thought more about aging more over recent years, her words struck me. Lauren has obviously aged gracefully and beautifully, but the way we hold onto our shows, it is a bit of a strange idea to think about. She's memorialized in this little chunk of time throughout the show. All of them are. So, I guess for some, it can be a shock to forget, that they are no longer their ages (or characters) from the show.

It's a beautiful and human experience to hold onto and remember, no matter what.

That's all for now,
Shelby
